Persaud, Gajraj win Enduro in Mitsubishi Evolution

President of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Vishok Persaud and partner Ranvir Gajraj were the overall winners of the Enduro event when the GMR&SC Club Day was staged at the South Dakota Circuit on Sunday. Persaud and Gajraj piloted a Mitsubishi Evolution to win from Aaron Bethune and Brian Ten-Pow in a Toyota Saloon. In third position was the pair of Kamal `Shades' Seebarran and Bunny Persaud in a Toyota Glanza.


Persaud and Gajraj were also crowned champions of the Super Sports category while Andrew King and Harold Hopkinson (Toyota) took the second spot. In third position was Awad Boodhoo and a partner in a Honda S2000. Bethune and Ten-Pow topped the 1600-2000cc Sports and Saloon category while Seebarran and Bunny Persaud were second and Errol Ten-Pow and Mohamed Roshindin were third. Veteran racer Cyril 'Ambassador' Angoy and Vishal Sawh were the winners in the 1600cc and under Sports and Saloon category. In second position was Audi Singh, A. Hassan and M. Rooplall.


Meanwhile, Kristian Jeffrey was the man to beat in the Go Kart category. Young Jeffrey captured two of the three races with Robert Hiscock winning the other. Stanley Ming secured two second places. Ming was unable to crack the South Dakota lap record while aboard a 250cc Shifter kart. The veteran racer turned in a best time of 37 seconds and recorded a speed of 105 miles per hour on the homestretch.
