GMR&SC's May 2004 three hours Endurance Meet held at the South Dakota
Circuit.
Looking through my archives, I came across these photos of this amazing
Enduro meet held at the South Dakota Circuit back in 2004. I hope I got
the details right, Bryan Max.
The
three hours endurance race held on the South Dakota Circuit in May of
2004 was won by Andrew and Peter driving a Subaru Impreza WRX. The team
of Kamal
Seebaran of Guyana and Selwyn "Bunny" Persaud of Trinidad won the 1600cc class and placed
second overall. The team of Errol and Jimmy Tenpow placed third overall.
In all some 30 teams started this grueling race but when the
checkered flag was dropped three hours later, less than a third of the
cars were still up and running.
The
Subaru Impreza of Team Morgan simply blew away the competition winning
by some 13 laps.
The Impreza make the Evos look like toys as it effortlessly cruised
around South Dakota completely in the lead for all three hours of this
event.
Team
Tenpow showed true determination as they screamed that little Suzuki
Swift around the track until it looked as if a bomb had been dropped on
it, the bonnet was ripped off and literally thrown away as mechanics
tried their best to keep the
Suzuki running, they were rewarded with a third overall finish for their
amazing and determined effort.
